Santa Clarita Now Offers Fare Capping: More Savings, More Simplicity for Riders
Getting around just became more affordable for Santa Clarita commuters. On January 1, Santa Clarita Transit officially launched fare capping for full-fare riders on local routes, making it easier than ever to save money while using public transit. Instead of buying a local daily or monthly pass, customers will now load Stored Value (cash) on a TAP card and pay per ride. Each ride will accumulate towards a 1-Day cap and a 7-Day cap (consecutive 7-day period). Once that cap is reached, customers ride FREE for the rest of that period!
Fare capping is designed to reward frequent riders automatically, making travel convenient, secure and seamless across Santa Clarita Transit. Instead of paying upfront for the cost of a pass or worrying if a pass makes sense, riders simply pay per ride and enjoy.
How much does a customer have to spend in a 1-day and 7-day period in order to reach their fare cap?
Full fare - $1.25
- Full fare using TAP card - $1.00
- 1-Day fare cap - $3.00
- 7-Day fare cap -$10.00
Free rides once they hit the fare cap. This ensures that riders never pay for more than rides they take.
This exciting update reflects Santa Clarita’s ongoing commitment to improving transportation access, affordability and rider convenience.
Whether you commute daily or ride occasionally, fare capping makes every trip count and helps you keep more money in your pocket.
